I have always been passionate about food and started my cooking career making puddings for local pubs. This enabled me to work from home thus combining my love of family life with my love of cooking. |

Three years ago i wanted to help our local youth club leader, Mr. Peter Crathorne, in his efforts to raise money to create a skatepark for the local kids. Thus came the idea of Henley-in-Arden's 1st Pudding club. From my experience of catering i knew that it wouldn't be the exotic recipes that people wanted to taste but the glorious puddings for which England should be rightly proud. |
| The menu for the first Henley-in-Arden Pudding Club was Apple Pie, Bread and Butter Pudding, Old English Sherry Trifle, Spotted Dick, Creamy Rice Pudding (with or without skin!) and a Syllabub made of sweet white wine and lemons. | ![]() |

Guests were asked to score the puddings and the apple pie was the clear winner. I served this with custard and in the traditional Yorkshire way of my childhood, with cheese. I can remember my father saying,'Apple pie without cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze.' Second place went to the bread and butter pudding |
| At the second Henley-in-Arden Pudding Club we had different puddings; Charlotte Malakoff, Boodles Pudding, Harvey Wallbanger, Cheesecake, Chocolate Pudding and a Jam Sponge. As the apple pie won last time i included it again. Guess what?! It won again, with Boodles pudding coming in second. | ![]() |
For my third Henley-in-Arden Pudding Club i have considered visiting the regions of Great Britain and selecting my choices from there. I am thinking about a Clootie Pudding from Scotland at the moment, but who knows?!
